Naked bike (streetfighter)

A naked bike is a road motorcycle with little or no fairing, an upright riding position and the engine on show.

A naked bike is a street motorcycle without the full fairing of a sports bike. The engine and frame are visible, the handlebar is wide and fairly high, and the rider sits upright. Many are based on sports-bike engines retuned for stronger mid-range torque. Aggressive high-power versions are often called streetfighters.

Naked bikes are popular because they are light, easy to handle in town, comfortable enough for day rides and cheaper to repair after a drop, with fewer plastic parts to break.

The downside is wind: above motorway speeds the rider takes the full blast. A small flyscreen, tank bag and soft luggage make a naked bike far more usable for touring.
