Trike

A trike is a three-wheeled motorcycle without a sidecar, with two wheels at the rear or, in a reverse trike, two at the front.

A trike is a three-wheeled motor vehicle built around motorcycle parts and controls, without a sidecar. A traditional trike has one wheel at the front and two at the rear; a reverse trike has two at the front and one at the rear, which usually gives better stability under braking and in corners.

Trikes do not lean, so they are steered more like a car or quad and do not require balancing at a standstill. This makes them popular with riders who find a heavy two-wheeler hard to hold up, and for touring with a passenger and luggage.

In the EU most trikes belong to vehicle category L5e. The licence needed depends on power and on national rules, so check the requirements before you buy.
