Streetfighter

A streetfighter is a sport bike stripped of its fairing, usually with a wide handlebar and aggressive styling; also called a hooligan bike.

A streetfighter is a high-performance sport bike with the fairing removed, a wide, flat handlebar instead of clip-ons, and aggressive styling, often with twin round or compact headlights. The style began in the 1980s and 1990s, when riders who crashed their sport bikes could not afford new fairings and rebuilt them naked.

Manufacturers soon followed with factory streetfighters, often based on their superbikes, with powerful engines and strong electronics. They are sometimes called hooligan bikes because of their wheelie-friendly character.

Without a fairing, wind pressure at high speed is tiring, so streetfighters are best for shorter, spirited rides. A small fly screen helps on longer trips.
