Time control (TC)

A time control is a rally or enduro checkpoint where you must check in at your assigned minute; arriving late, and often early, costs penalties.

A time control (TC) is a checkpoint in rally raid and enduro where each rider has a set time to check in. The time card or electronic system records your arrival, and the gap between controls is calculated so that you can ride it within the allowed time.

Arriving after your minute earns time penalties, and in many events arriving early is penalised too, so riders wait just before the control and enter exactly on their minute. Too large a delay can mean exclusion.

Tips: know how the official clock is shown, keep your own watch synchronised with it, and plan fuel and service stops so that you reach each TC with a small margin.
