Splat

A splat is a trials and hard enduro technique where the rear wheel is driven into the face of a high obstacle to bounce the bike up onto it.

A splat is an advanced trials and hard enduro technique for getting over obstacles too tall for a normal roll-up, such as high logs, rock steps or walls. The rider approaches, compresses the suspension, lifts the front wheel onto or above the obstacle with throttle and body movement, and lets the bike rotate slightly back so the rear tyre hits ('splats') the face of the obstacle.

The rear suspension compresses on impact and its rebound, combined with drive from the rear wheel, pushes the bike up and over. Timing of throttle, clutch and body position is everything.

Learn it step by step on small obstacles with good protective gear, ideally with a trials coach. A bash plate and solid handguards are essential.
