Roll-up (trials technique)

A roll-up is a trials and enduro technique for climbing onto an obstacle using a short burst of throttle and the bike's momentum.

A roll-up is a basic trials and enduro technique for getting over logs, steps and rocks. The rider approaches at a steady, slow speed, gives a short, sharp burst of throttle just before the obstacle, then closes it as the front wheel reaches the edge. The flywheel's inertia and the bike's momentum carry it up and over, while the rider moves body weight forward to unload the rear.

For taller obstacles the front wheel is first lifted onto the edge with a blip of throttle and a pull on the bars, after which the rear wheel follows.

Start with small logs or kerbs, stand on the pegs and keep two fingers on the clutch. Good body position is more important than speed.
