Berm

A berm is a banked wall of dirt on the outside of a corner that lets riders turn faster by leaning against it.

A berm is a raised bank of dirt or sand on the outside of a corner. On motocross and enduro tracks berms are often built with machines, and they also form naturally as riders push soil outwards lap after lap.

A berm works like banking on a velodrome: the bike can lean into it and use it for support, so you can carry more speed and get on the throttle earlier. Look for the deepest, most supportive line, enter with the bike leaning, sit forward and keep the throttle steady to stay in the rut.

Berms change during a race. One that is being cut through or pushed away can throw you over the top, so check lines in practice and pick an alternative when a berm becomes blown out.
