Helmet Visor (Face Shield)

The visor is the clear shield on the front of a helmet protecting your eyes and face from wind, rain, insects and stones.

The visor, or face shield, is the hinged transparent shield on a full-face, modular or open-face helmet. It protects against wind, rain, insects and road debris and is part of the helmet's approval: in the EU, ECE 22.06 also tests visors for optical quality and scratch resistance.

Visors are made of polycarbonate and come clear, tinted or mirrored. Darkly tinted visors are only meant for daytime use. A Pinlock anti-fog insert, fitted to visors prepared for it, prevents fogging in cold and rainy weather – very useful in Nordic and Baltic conditions.

Clean the visor with water and a soft cloth, never solvents or paper towels, and replace it when scratches cause glare at night.
