Roll-offs (goggle film system)

Roll-offs are a goggle system with a clear film wound between two canisters; pulling a cord moves fresh film across the lens to clear mud.

Roll-offs are a motocross and enduro goggle accessory. A clear plastic film is stored in one canister on the side of the goggle and runs across the lens to a take-up canister on the other side. When mud blocks your view, you pull a cord and a fresh section of film slides across, carrying the dirt away.

They are more useful than tear-offs in heavy, wet mud, because they give many clear views and do not leave stacks of film on the track. Most systems use wide-vision lenses and a mud flap or visor to keep the canisters clean.

Fit the film straight, pre-wind a few turns before the start, and check that the goggle model is compatible with your roll-off kit.
