Tail bag (tail pack)

A tail bag is luggage that fastens to the pillion seat or rear rack, adding storage without fitting hard cases.

A tail bag or tail pack sits on the passenger seat, the tail section or a rear luggage rack. It is the simplest way to add storage to almost any motorcycle, from a sports bike to an adventure bike.

Bags are fixed with straps, elastic cords, a dedicated mounting plate or a quick-release system. Many can be expanded, have a rain cover and a carry handle or shoulder strap so they come off with you at the hotel.

When choosing, check the volume, the mounting method for your bike and whether it blocks the rear light or number plate. Load heavy items low and forward, pull the straps tight and recheck them after the first few kilometres, as loose straps can reach the rear wheel or chain.
