Four-Season Riding Gear

Four-season gear is waterproof, breathable textile riding gear with removable linings, designed for riding from cold spring to hot summer.

Four-season (all-season) gear is a jacket and trousers built to work in a wide range of weather. Typical features are a waterproof, breathable membrane such as Gore-Tex or a maker's own laminate, a removable thermal liner, large vents for hot days and CE-approved armour at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees.

Laminated gear, where the membrane is bonded to the outer fabric, doesn't soak up water and dries faster than drop-liner gear, where the membrane is a separate layer inside. In the Nordic and Baltic climate, with cold mornings and sudden rain, good four-season gear lets you ride from early spring to late autumn.

Look for an EN 17092 rating, try the gear in your riding position and wash it with a technical detergent to keep the membrane breathable.
