Scooter

A scooter is a step-through two-wheeler with a floorboard, small wheels and usually an automatic CVT; riders also call any bike a 'scoot'.

A scooter is a two-wheeler with a step-through frame, a flat floorboard for the feet, bodywork covering the engine and usually small wheels. Most have an automatic CVT (twist and go) and storage under the seat, which makes them popular for city use.

Engine sizes range from 50 cc mopeds to maxi-scooters of 300–750 cc that can tour on motorways, and electric scooters are increasingly common. In Europe, 50 cc / 45 km/h scooters fall into the AM licence category, while larger ones need A1, A2 or A.

Maintenance basics: change oil and the CVT belt and rollers at the intervals, check tyres and brakes, and keep the air filter clean. In English slang, 'scoot' is sometimes used jokingly for any motorcycle.
