Sidecar

A sidecar is a one-wheeled car attached to the side of a motorcycle to carry a passenger or load, creating a three-wheeled outfit.

A sidecar is a small one-wheeled body attached to the side of a motorcycle, turning it into a three-wheeled combination or 'outfit'. It can carry a passenger, luggage or tools. Ural and Dnepr are well-known factory sidecar bikes, and many other motorcycles can be fitted with one.

A sidecar outfit does not lean. It steers like a small car, pulls to one side under acceleration and braking, and the sidecar wheel can lift in fast turns away from it. New riders should train in a safe area first.

Fitting needs correct mounts, toe-in and lean-out alignment, and often modified steering geometry. Sidecar racing, both on road circuits and in sidecar motocross, is a popular discipline in Europe.
