CE Approved (Protective Gear)

CE marking on motorcycle gear shows it is certified to EU protective equipment standards, e.g. EN 17092 clothing or EN 1621 armour.

CE approved or CE marked means a product meets the requirements for sale in the European Economic Area. For motorcycle clothing it shows the item is certified as personal protective equipment under EU Regulation 2016/425 and tested to a specific standard.

  • EN 17092 – jackets, trousers and suits, classes AAA (most protective) to A, plus B and C.
  • EN 1621-1 – limb armour, EN 1621-2 – back protectors, EN 1621-3 – chest protectors, level 1 or level 2 (level 2 transmits less force).
  • EN 13594 – gloves, EN 13634 – boots.

Helmets are approved separately under the UN ECE 22.06 regulation. When buying, look for the label inside the garment and check that the armour itself is certified, not just a pocket for it.
