The FIM is the world governing body of motorcycle sport, sanctioning MotoGP, MXGP, EnduroGP, trials and more, with national federations as members.

The FIM, Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, is the international governing body of motorcycle sport, based in Switzerland. It writes the technical and sporting rules for world championships such as MotoGP, Superbike, MXGP, EnduroGP, trials, speedway and rally-raid, and approves race tracks.

National federations are FIM members and run national championships and licences, for example the Estonian Motorsport Federation (EMF), the Finnish SML and the Swedish SVEMO. Continental competitions in Europe are run by FIM Europe.

To race, you normally need a licence from your national federation. FIM homologation is also used for some safety equipment, for example the FIM racing helmet homologation programme (FRHPhe) required in top-level road racing.
