Poker run

A poker run is a social ride where participants visit checkpoints, draw a playing card at each and the best poker hand wins.

A poker run is an organised group ride, popular in North America, often run by motorcycle clubs or for charity. Riders visit a set number of checkpoints, usually five, and draw a playing card at each one. At the end, the rider with the best poker hand wins a prize.

Because the result depends on luck rather than speed, it is a relaxed, non-competitive event. Entry fees often go to a good cause, and the route usually takes in scenic roads, cafés or bars.

Similar social rides exist in Europe under other names, such as charity rides, treasure hunts or orienteering rides. If you join one, plan fuel stops, ride at your own pace and follow normal traffic rules between checkpoints.
