LCQ (Last Chance Qualifier)

The LCQ is a final short race that gives riders who failed to qualify through heats one last chance to reach the main event.

The LCQ, or Last Chance Qualifier, is a short race held before the main event at supercross, motocross and some other races. Riders who did not finish high enough in their heat races line up once more, and only the top few finishers earn the remaining places on the starting gate for the final.

Because so few places are available and the race is short, LCQs are often intense, with a premium on a good start and aggressive passing.

Formats vary between series and organisers, including how many riders advance. The idea is similar to the repechage or consolation races used in other forms of racing.
