Wheelie bar

A wheelie bar is an extension with small wheels behind a drag bike's rear wheel that stops the front lifting too high or the bike flipping at launch.

A wheelie bar is a long frame fitted behind the rear wheel of a drag-racing motorcycle, ending in one or two small wheels close to the ground. At launch, the huge acceleration tries to lift the front; when the small wheels touch the track, they stop the bike rotating further backwards.

This lets the rider use more power off the line instead of feathering the throttle or clutch to keep the front down, which means quicker elapsed times. It also prevents the bike from flipping over backwards.

Wheelie bars are used almost only in drag racing and on some stunt bikes, together with a long swingarm. On road bikes, electronic wheelie control does a similar job by limiting power.
