Block Pass

A block pass is an overtaking move where a rider takes the inside line in a corner, cutting across the rival's path to take the position.

A block pass is a racing overtake, common in motocross and supercross, where the attacking rider dives to the inside of a corner, usually under braking, and takes the line the rider ahead wanted. The rider being passed has to slow down or change line, and loses momentum.

A clean block pass is about timing and line choice: pick a corner where the leader takes a wide or outside line, brake later, hold your line and drive out first. Making contact or riding someone off the track crosses the line into dangerous riding and can bring penalties.

To defend, protect the inside on corner entry or switch to a different line so you can counter with a better exit. In practice sessions, watching other riders' lines helps you spot where passes are possible.
