ICO (Rally Trip Meter)

ICO is riders' name for a rally trip meter showing total and partial distance and heading; ICO correction aligns it with the roadbook.

ICO is the name rally riders commonly use for the trip meter, after the ICO Rally brand. Mounted next to the roadbook, it shows total distance, a resettable partial distance and often the current compass heading (CAP), so the rider can match each roadbook box to the ground.

No trip meter is perfectly accurate: tyre wear, wheel spin and different lines all cause small errors that build up. ICO correction means adjusting the total distance up or down at a clearly identifiable landmark so that it matches the roadbook again.

Calibrate the meter on a known distance before the event, and correct it at junctions, bridges or other distinct points rather than guessing in open terrain. Most units are adjusted with a handlebar remote.
