G-Out

A G-out is a sharp dip or compression where suspension bottoms out as the bike goes from downhill straight into uphill.

A G-out is a spot where the ground changes abruptly from downhill to uphill, such as the bottom of a steep gully. As the bike changes direction, G-forces press the rider and machine down so hard that the suspension compresses fully and may bottom out.

The sudden load can throw the rider forward, kick the rear up or make the bars wrench sideways. Hitting a G-out at speed can also damage wheels and fork seals.

Approach with controlled speed, stand on the pegs with bent knees and elbows so your legs absorb the hit, and keep weight slightly back. If you ride such terrain regularly, correct sag and enough compression damping help the suspension cope.
