Double Track

Double track is an unpaved trail wide enough for a car or ATV, with two wheel ruts, as opposed to narrow single track.

Double track is a dirt road or forest track with two parallel wheel ruts, wide enough for a four-wheeled vehicle such as a car or ATV. Single track, in contrast, is only one bike wide.

Forest roads, logging tracks and field edges are typical double track and often form the connecting sections in enduro and adventure rides. They are easier and faster than single track but can hide deep ruts, puddles, stones and oncoming traffic.

Pick one rut or the crown in the middle and stay committed, look well ahead and remember that motor vehicle access to forest and private roads depends on local rules and landowner permission.
