Cordura

Cordura is a trademarked range of tough nylon fabrics with high abrasion resistance, widely used in textile motorcycle jackets and trousers.

Cordura is a brand of durable nylon fabrics, first developed by DuPont and now owned by INVISTA. It is known for high abrasion and tear resistance for its weight, which is why it is one of the most common outer materials for textile motorcycle jackets, trousers, luggage and boots.

Cordura comes in different weights, usually given in denier, for example 500D or 1000D; higher numbers mean thicker yarn. Good gear often combines lighter Cordura for comfort with heavier fabric or leather panels on the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, where you are most likely to slide.

The fabric name alone does not prove protection. Look for an EN 17092 class rating and certified armour. Clean Cordura gear according to the label and re-proof the water-repellent finish from time to time.
