Throttle lock (throttle rocker)

A throttle lock or rocker is a simple accessory that holds the throttle steady or lets you push it with your palm, easing fatigue on long rides.

On bikes without cruise control, a throttle lock or throttle rocker can make long motorway stretches more comfortable. There are two main types:

  • friction locks clamp onto the bar or grip and add friction, so the throttle stays where you leave it while you relax your hand;
  • rockers are small paddles on the grip that let you hold the throttle open with your palm instead of a tight grip.

Neither is true cruise control: the speed changes on hills and the throttle does not close by itself. Use them only on quiet, straight roads, keep your hand near the grip and never use a friction lock in town or in poor conditions. Check local rules and make sure it does not interfere with the throttle return spring.
