Skimming whoops

Skimming is riding fast across a whoops section so the wheels touch only the tops of the bumps, keeping the bike level.

Skimming is the fastest way through a whoops section, the line of closely spaced bumps found on motocross and supercross tracks. Instead of jumping each whoop or rolling up and down them, the rider carries enough speed that the wheels only tap the top of each bump and the bike seems to float across.

It requires committed speed, a body position slightly back with arms extended, steady throttle and suspension that is set up stiff enough. If speed drops, the front wheel can drop into a gap and cause a crash, so skimming is only for experienced riders.

Learn whoops at slow speed by rolling them first, and only build speed once your body position is stable.
