Rolling chassis

A rolling chassis is a motorcycle frame with suspension and wheels fitted, able to roll, but usually without engine or bodywork.

A rolling chassis is a motorcycle build or restoration at the stage where the frame, fork, swingarm, suspension and wheels are fitted, so it can be pushed around on its own wheels. The engine, wiring and bodywork may still be missing.

Reaching this stage is a milestone in a custom build: the bike can be lifted off the stand to check stance, ride height and wheel alignment before the remaining parts go on.

Rolling chassis are also sold on their own, for example to rebuild a crashed bike or install another engine. Make sure the frame number and paperwork are in order before buying.
