Lock-On Grips (Bolt-On Grips)

Lock-on grips clamp to the handlebar with small bolts instead of glue or wire, so they never twist and are quick to change.

Lock-on grips, also called bolt-on grips, are handlebar grips held in place by a clamp or collar with a small bolt, rather than by glue, safety wire or a tight rubber fit. They are popular on motocross, enduro, pit bikes and ATVs.

Their main advantages are that the grip cannot rotate on the bar, even when wet or covered in mud, and that it can be changed in minutes without cutting off the old grip or waiting for glue to dry. On the throttle side, the grip locks onto a matching throttle tube.

Check that the grips suit your bar diameter (22 mm or 7/8 in for most bikes, 1-1/8 in for some cruisers) and throttle tube type, and that bar-end handguards still fit. Tighten the clamp bolts to the specified torque.
