Increasing Radius Turn

An increasing radius turn opens up as you go through it, allowing the rider to add speed and lift the bike towards the exit.

An increasing radius turn is a corner that becomes less tight as you go through it. The first part is the sharpest, and the bend then opens out towards the exit.

These corners are generally the friendliest type: once past the tightest section, the rider can progressively roll on the throttle and stand the bike up while the road straightens. The main challenge is the entry, which must be taken at a speed suited to the tight first part.

Brake before the turn, turn in on a line that suits the tight entry, then accelerate smoothly as the corner opens. The opposite is the decreasing radius turn, which tightens as you go and requires a later apex and more patience.
