GPS

GPS is a satellite navigation system that lets a receiver work out its position; on a bike it powers sat navs and trackers.

GPS (Global Positioning System) is the US satellite navigation system. A receiver measures signals from several satellites and calculates its latitude, longitude and altitude. Modern devices also use the European Galileo, Russian GLONASS and Chinese BeiDou systems for better accuracy.

Motorcyclists use GPS in dedicated motorcycle navigators, phone apps, rally trip meters and anti-theft trackers. Motorcycle navigators are built to be waterproof, readable in sunlight and usable with gloves.

For touring and adventure riding, choose a unit with offline maps and GPX route support, mount it securely with vibration damping and power it from the bike so the battery does not run flat on a long day.
