Double Blip

The double blip is a trials and enduro technique: one throttle blip lifts the front onto an obstacle, a second drives the rear wheel up and over.

The double blip is used to get over logs, steps and rocks too big to simply ride over. It is a basic trials skill and very useful in hard enduro.

  • First blip: just before the obstacle, compress the suspension and give a short burst of throttle (often with the clutch) to lift the front wheel onto or over it.
  • Second blip: as the front lands on top, give another short burst while moving your weight forward and unweighting the rear, so the rear wheel climbs and the bike drives up and over.

Timing matters more than power. Practise on a small log or kerb in first or second gear, with a finger on the clutch.
