Chase Vehicle (Support Vehicle)

A chase vehicle is a van or truck that follows a group ride, tour or rally to carry luggage, spares and any broken-down bikes.

A chase vehicle or support vehicle is a van, pickup or truck that follows a group of riders on a tour, charity ride or rally. It carries luggage, tools, spare parts and fuel, and can pick up a bike that has broken down or crashed, as well as a tired or injured rider.

On organised adventure tours the chase vehicle lets riders travel light, and in rally-raid events team assistance vehicles meet the bikes at the bivouac for repairs.

When planning your own group trip, agree in advance where the chase vehicle will meet the riders, how you communicate and who carries what. A van with ramps and tie-down points makes loading a damaged bike much safer.
