Balance Point

The balance point is where the bike stays upright with almost no correction, whether at walking pace or in a wheelie.

The balance point is the position where a motorcycle's weight and forces are balanced, so it holds its attitude with very little input from the rider. Riders use the term in two common situations.

At walking pace, such as in tight turns, trials sections or filtering, balance comes from keeping the bike moving with a slipping clutch, steady throttle and light rear brake, while the body stays upright and relaxed. In a wheelie, the balance point is the angle where the front wheel stays up without the bike falling forward or looping out; the rear brake is used to bring it back down.

Both are learned by slow, repeated practice in a safe, open space. Covering the rear brake gives you a reliable way out if you go past the point.
