Roadbook Danger Levels (! / !! / !!!)

Rally roadbooks mark hazards with one, two or three exclamation marks: caution, slow down, or serious danger.

Rally organisers grade hazards in the roadbook with exclamation marks. One mark (Danger 1) means pay attention, two (Danger 2) means slow down clearly, and three (Danger 3) means a real risk of a heavy crash, such as a hidden drop, a deep hole or a sharp dune edge.

In big rally-raids, Danger 3 notes are typically linked to a GPS safety waypoint, so the navigation unit enforces a speed limit or makes sure you approach the spot carefully.

Practical tip: mark Danger 2 and 3 boxes with a highlighter while preparing the roadbook and start braking before the distance shown, not at it – trip meters are never perfectly accurate.
