Handgrips

Handgrips are the rubber or foam covers on the handlebar ends that the rider holds; the right one turns the throttle.

Handgrips are the rubber, foam or compound covers on the ends of the handlebars. The left grip is fixed to the bar, while the right grip sits on the throttle tube and twists to control engine power.

Grips come in different diameters, compounds and patterns. Softer grips damp vibration and feel comfortable but wear faster; harder ones last longer. Off-road riders often prefer thinner grips with a waffle pattern for feel, while touring riders may choose thicker grips or heated grips for cold weather.

Grips are usually glued or wired in place so they cannot twist. Make sure the throttle grip never touches the bar end or switch housing and always snaps back to closed.
