Stretched bike (stretch)

A stretched bike has a longer front fork, more rake or an extended swingarm; used on choppers for looks and on drag and hill climb bikes for stability.

A stretched motorcycle has been made longer, either at the front or the rear. On choppers, the front is stretched with longer fork tubes and a frame with more rake, giving the classic long, laid-back look and very stable but slow steering.

At the rear, a stretched-out or extended swingarm moves the rear wheel back. Drag racing and hill climb bikes use this to reduce wheelies under hard acceleration and to put power down more effectively, and some street bikes copy the drag look.

Stretching changes steering geometry, weight distribution and chain length. Done properly it needs correct trail, quality parts and careful welding; badly done it creates unstable or heavy-steering bikes. Check what modifications your country's inspection rules allow.
