Footpegs

Footpegs are the rests for the rider's and passenger's feet; off-road pegs are wide and serrated, road pegs are rubber-covered or knurled.

Footpegs are the supports on which the rider and passenger rest their feet. Rider pegs also define riding position and give leverage for steering the bike with your feet and standing up off-road.

Off-road and adventure bikes use wide steel or aluminium pegs with sharp teeth for boot grip when standing, and spring-loaded so they fold up in a fall. Road bikes use narrower pegs, often rubber-covered to reduce vibration, and sport bikes use rear-set pegs placed high and far back for cornering clearance.

Wider aftermarket pegs reduce foot fatigue when standing for long periods. Check that the return springs and pivot pins are in good condition, and clean mud out of the teeth for grip.
