Two-wheel drift

A two-wheel drift is a controlled slide in which both tyres slip sideways through a corner; an advanced racing and flat-track skill.

A two-wheel drift is when both the front and the rear tyre slide sideways at the same time while the rider keeps the bike under control. It is a normal part of flat-track and speedway riding, and at the highest level of road racing riders sometimes drift both wheels on corner entry and exit.

It relies on balance between lean angle, throttle and steering: the rider holds a steady slide rather than reacting to a sudden loss of grip. Dirt and loose surfaces make it far easier and safer to learn, as the slides happen at lower speeds.

On public roads a two-wheel slide means you have used all the available grip. Practise sliding only in a controlled environment, such as a flat-track or supermoto school.
