Paddock stand (swingarm stand)

A paddock stand lifts the rear wheel by the swingarm using a lever, so you can clean and lube the chain or remove the wheel.

A paddock stand or swingarm stand is a separate workshop stand that lifts the rear of the bike. It has two arms that fit under the swingarm, either on forks or rubber pads or on hooks that engage bobbins (spools) bolted to the swingarm. Pushing down on the long handle raises the rear wheel off the ground.

It makes chain cleaning and adjustment, rear tyre checks, wheel removal and storage much easier, especially on bikes without a centre stand. Front paddock stands lift the fork by the lower legs or under the steering head.

Use it on firm, level ground, keep the bike upright while lifting, and make sure both supports are seated properly. Ideally, have a helper the first few times.
