Nav tower (rally tower) and rally GPS

A nav tower is the frame behind a rally bike's screen that carries the roadbook holder, trip meters and the organiser's GPS.

A nav tower or rally tower is a rigid frame mounted to the steering head behind the fairing of a rally bike. It puts all navigation gear in the rider's line of sight: the roadbook holder (electric or manual scroll), one or two trip meters (ICO), a compass heading display (CAP) and the safety and tracking units.

In major rally-raids such as the Dakar and the world championship, organisers supply a sealed rally GPS. It does not show a map; it validates waypoints, enforces speed limits in controlled zones and only reveals the heading to a waypoint when the rider is close enough under the rules.

For enduro and amateur rally riders, aftermarket nav towers are available for many bikes. Mount it solidly, wire the trip meter to a reliable wheel sensor and keep remote switches within thumb reach.
