Cowboy Mount

The cowboy mount is a way of getting on a tall motorcycle, such as an adventure or enduro bike, when you can't comfortably swing your leg over from the ground. Like mounting a horse, you put your weight on one footpeg and swing the other leg over the seat.

Typically the bike stays on its side stand, leaning to the left. Hold the handlebar and front brake, put your left foot on the left footpeg, step up and swing your right leg over the seat and luggage, then lift the bike upright with your legs and retract the stand. Dismounting works in reverse.

Make sure the side stand is on firm ground and the bike is in gear or the brake is held, so it can't roll. Practise with an unloaded bike first; with full luggage it is easier to step over the passenger peg or use a rock or kerb for height.
