This standard NGK spark plug is an original-type motorcycle spark plug used on most two-wheelers. The reliability of standard NGK spark plugs has led motorcycle, motocross and moped manufacturers to use them as original equipment on their vehicles.

NGK HIX Iridium spark plugs (the benchmark for performance and reliability) are the direct result of racing development. Designed for demanding, performance-oriented customers, they comply with manufacturers' specifications.

HIX range spark plugs improve original performance in terms of acceleration, cold-start ease, service life and fuel economy. They are particularly suitable for mildly tuned engines and recommended for sporty riding. The use of an Iridium alloy (a precious metal) makes it possible to reduce the diameter of the central electrode (0,6 mm in Iridium instead of 2,5 mm in nickel or 0,8 mm in Platinum), creating a very fine tip and reducing the required ignition voltage. This feature ensures faster mixture ignition and protects the ignition system.

The bevelled shape of the ground electrode reduces the shadow area (unignited fuel area) and ensures rapid mixture ignition. The iridium-alloy electrode offers superior resistance to high temperatures and erosion; its wear is slower, and it can achieve a service life 2,5 times longer than conventional spark plugs. The so-called stepped or “2 step” anti-fouling system also provides exceptional performance in urban use and on short trips.
