Stoppie (endo)

A stoppie is a stunt where hard front braking lifts the rear wheel and the bike balances on its front wheel; the opposite of a wheelie.

A stoppie, also called an endo or nose wheelie, is the reverse of a wheelie. The rider brakes hard and progressively with the front brake so that weight transfer lifts the rear wheel off the ground, then balances on the front wheel while slowing down or rolling.

It takes precise front brake control and body position. Too much brake flips the bike over the front; too little and the rear simply lands. ABS on many modern bikes prevents or limits rear wheel lift, and some systems have a rear-lift mitigation function.

Stoppies are a stunt riding skill and belong on closed areas with full protective gear. On the road, a small rear lift under emergency braking is a sign you are at the limit of front braking.
