These batteries feature the symbol of a large bin with a cross through it. This symbol indicates that the batteries MUST NOT be disposed of in the standard house pubbish. Batteries with more than 0.0005 percent by mass of mercury, more than 0.002 percent by mass of cadmium or more than 0.004 percent by mass of lead feature the symbol of the main chemical under the rubbish bin symbol, e.g. "Cd" for cadmium, "Pb" for lead and "Hg" for mercury. In accordance with article 10 of the BattG we are required to apply a 7.50 Euro charge on starter batteries (in Germany - call for information relating to UK regulations) and are registered accordingly with the German Federal Environmental Agency with the following numbers: 21000231, 21001701, 21001726, 21001110, 21001718, 21003341, 21000820 and 21003341.

As a distributor of batteries or accumulators, we are obligated by the German Battery Ordinance (Batteriegesetz BattG) to inform you as an end user about proper and safe battery disposal:
Batteries contain harmful substances and are labeled with the crossed wheelie bin symbol (kindly see below). Batteries marked with the crossed wheelie bin do not belong to regular household waste. They must be disposed properly and brought to separate collection facilities/drop-off locations for recycling. Due to concern about cadmium, lead-acid and mercury in municipal waste stream, health and environmental risk, batteries containing more than 0.002% by weight of cadmium (Cd), 0.004% by weight of lead (Pb) or 0.0005% by weight of mercury (Hg) require the chemical symbol underneath the crossed wheelie bin logo, respectively. Under terms of the German Battery Ordinance § 10 BattG (Pfandpflicht für Fahrzeugbatterien), as a distributor of automotive batteries, we are legally obligated to charge a fixed refund fee of 7.50 EUR. The fee will be added to sales price.
