Slip-on exhaust

A slip-on is an aftermarket silencer that replaces only the end can, sliding onto the standard header pipes or link pipe.

A slip-on exhaust replaces only the silencer (muffler) at the end of the system. It slides onto the factory header or link pipe and is held with a clamp and hanger, so fitting is quick and usually needs no other changes. A full system replaces the headers as well.

Slip-ons mainly change sound and weight; the power gain is usually small. Fuel-injected bikes often run correctly without remapping, although some benefit from it. Many come with removable dB killers.

In the EU, choose an E-marked, type-approved slip-on for your model if you ride on public roads, and keep the dB killer fitted. Keep the original silencer in case you sell the bike or need to pass an inspection.
