Sissy bar

A sissy bar is a tall passenger backrest frame behind the pillion seat, common on cruisers and choppers; it can also hold luggage.

A sissy bar is an upright bar or frame mounted behind the passenger seat, usually with a backrest pad. It makes the pillion feel more secure and comfortable, and many riders also use it to strap a bag or roll to.

Sissy bars are typical of cruisers and choppers, and many come in detachable versions that can be removed quickly when riding solo. Tall, narrow sissy bars are also a styling element on custom bikes.

When carrying luggage on a sissy bar, keep the load low and light, as weight high and behind the rear axle makes the front light and can contribute to wobble.
