  3. Pour half of the petrol into the can, add the oil, shake and add the rest of the petrol.

Frequently asked questions

What does a 50:1 ratio mean?

1 part oil to 50 parts petrol, i.e. 20 ml of oil for every litre of petrol.

What happens if there is too little oil?

The engine is not lubricated well enough and can seize. Too much oil causes smoke and carbon build-up, but is less dangerous for the engine.

Can I use chainsaw oil in a motorcycle?

It is better to use 2-stroke oil made for motorcycles, which is tested for higher revs and temperatures.
