Motorcycle jeans Knox Shield MK2, Class AAA, EN17092-2:2020

The Shield MK2 are Knox’s strongest and most technologically advanced jeans yet. Their exceptional strength and high-performance Class AAA rating conform to EN17092-2:2020. For perspective, Class AAA is normally associated with leather racing suits.

These are single-layer Class AAA stretch jeans with a tapered leg – a classic style for those seeking the strongest protection available. They are made from pioneering denim developed for Knox with Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibre. UHMWPE fibre is one of the world’s strongest and lightest fibres – it is 40% stronger than aramid and fifteen times stronger than steel.

UHMWPE fibres are known for their high strength and durability while offering added stretch for exceptional all-day comfort on a motorcycle. Elastane provides ease of movement while delivering the highest level of AAA protection. The unique denim weave delivers unparalleled strength for like-for-like weights. The fibre also repels moisture, helping the wearer stay dry, and draws heat away from the body to help the rider stay cool.

The robust nature of UHMWPE fibre greatly reduces normal wear and tear. The jeans are also hypoallergenic and therefore will not cause irritation. Two invisible zipped armour pockets with easy external access are provided at the knees for removing the low-profile Knox CE Micro-Lock protectors. These are fitted as standard.

A carefully tailored tapered fit looks perfect both on and off the bike. Updated details include technical branding on the waist, Knox-branded rivets, a key ring and waist button, plus YKK zips. Four deep pockets with a charcoal abstract print make gearing up in the Shield a delight.

Available in classic indigo blue and classic black. The black version is available with a regular 33” or short 30” leg length. Sizes range from S to 3XL. Machine washable.

SIZE GUIDE

Waist: To determine your size, measure your waist where your trousers usually sit. This is approximately 2 inches (about 5–6 cm) below the navel. To obtain your trouser size, subtract 2 inches (about 5–6 cm) from this measurement.

Inside leg: Measure from the inside crotch to the heel/floor. For greater accuracy, measure while standing. Men have two leg lengths: 33 inches (regular) and 30 inches (short). Note: the measurements given are body measurements and we do not recommend measuring over clothing. Keep the measuring tape firm, not loose, as the measurement must be accurate.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Storage: Hang the garment in a dry, ventilated environment away from sunlight and direct heat sources. Do not leave it on the floor or under heavy items, as this may cause the protectors to deform, tear or become damaged. Do not fold the garment or protector in half, as this may damage the protector. Keep away from chemicals that may damage the material and reduce its protective properties.

Maintenance: The impact protection and fastening system should be inspected regularly, at least once a year, for visible signs of wear. If the impact protectors are worn or damaged, or their condition is in doubt, replace them immediately. Replacing the protectors every 5 years is recommended regardless of their condition. If the protectors have been impacted in an accident, replace them immediately.

Washing: Carefully remove the protectors from the garment before washing. Protectors should only be cleaned by hand.
