The springs contained in the large primary wheel serve as shock absorbers. They protect the gearbox from high load peaks. If they are too soft in relation to the engine torque, they are fully compressed and pass peak pressures unfiltered to the transmission.

The reinforced springs included in the set counter the higher torque of modern engine concepts with a correspondingly higher spring rate. As a result, the standard springs no longer go on block and thus prevent load change peaks from being transmitted to the clutch or motor housing. This means that the lugs of the clutch linings last significantly longer, the risk of the original springs breaking is eliminated and the transmission is protected.
